Sleep continues to elude me. I just had, HAD to get up to adjust my 401(k) contribution around midnight. I was also convinced I heard a fly buzzing around -- or was it a bee? And if it's a bee, what if it stings one of the cats? And as much as I want them, I can't make black-bean quesadillas Wed. night because I'm going out for Mexican Thursday. So I should grill veggie sandwiches, but then the avocado is wasted, and you know, avocados don't come cheap. . .
Yes, it's true: I am losing sleep over bees and produce, not over uranium in Iran or intentional White House leaks. Well, maybe that stuff is tumbling somewhere in my addled brain, too.
I let out a big, fat "OY!" to the World.
Meanwhile, when I'm not attempting to sleep, I'm listening to the incredible singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams, who happens to be a Louisiana native. She has a gorgeous song about New Orleans. It's called "Crescent City," and in the wake of Katrina and the sloooooow clean-up, it's especially sad. She sings: "I'm going back to the Crescent City/Where everything's still the same." If only.

harvest time
So avocados aren't cheap? But what about the very underpaid employees who harvest such crops? Ms. Hillary was against such practices, but then she was for it. Guess it depends how she feels when she gets up in the morning. Unless she prefers to sleep during the day and gets her energy from the light of the moon? (sorry, pre-lunch-hunger bitterness talking, but she is one not to be stomached at any time of the day).April 13 2006, 00:13:49 UTC 6 years ago

I sense vitriol in that avocado comment...Anonymous

Re: calmer approach...
Is that a natural ingredient found in the avocado? :) Sorry about that before, not much of an avocado fan to begin with.April 13 2006, 15:20:01 UTC 6 years ago
Re: Avocado Advocate
Oh, that's OK. I am ambivalent myself unless I gussy up an avocado with lemon juice. Actually, I'd eat an avocado right now. I'm getting to the 4-hour mark. When I go 4 hours w/o food, things get ugly.Anonymous

Re: likes green food, but....
i'm a fan of almost everything on the table when visiting a Mexican restaurant, except the guacamole (sp?). I'm in post yogurt, Sun Chip and chicken wrap mode. Time for siesta?April 13 2006, 17:52:46 UTC 6 years ago
Re: Chips
I tried Sun Chips today. Lots of fiber, lots of salt -- sort of a potato-nacho hybrid.Anonymous

Re: sunny days
oh, so you may have sampled the Cheddar version? I had the original blue bag. The green French Onion bag is good too, as long as one doesn't have to talk with other co-workers right afterwards, lol. A visiting duck at the park even seemed to enjoy a few of the Chips.
